Why a parish visit?
The white elephant is brought into the sanctuary. Research shows that 1 in 4 women have abortions, yet no one talks about it. Women and men in the church are suffering silently, ashamed to admit their experience. Many do not realize the source of their suffering, but my witness brings to light the symptoms.
Who is more qualified to speak about abortion and the resulting consequences than one who has suffered from it?
Who can speak sincerely of God’s great mercy and compassion than one who has received it?
Who better to offer the hope of Jesus Christ, than one who has experienced His mercy and has been called to pass it on to others through a healing ministry?
Why During the Mass?
It’s the message of the Gospel. A sinner receives Gods mercy and forgiveness and experiences conversion through a Christ Renews His Parish weekend.
Those who are suffering feel understood and experience hope as they witness the compassionate response from their pastor and parishioners.
A large group offers anonymity; women will travel to attend the Mass.
We are all affected by abortion because it’s in our families, among our co-workers and friends; we need to learn how we can help.
The silence of abortion and its consequences allow it to continue.
This message will not be heard by the majority of these people anywhere else.
The Fruit
- Forgotten abortions are remembered leading to repentance and confession.
- Some have gone to confession but still suffer. They will identify their own post-abortion symptoms and begin recovery programs.
- Family members recognize loved ones who may be suffering from post-abortion stress and can offer them compassion and the hope of recovery.
- Young people are motivated to become pro-active among their peers.
- Parishioners will become more active in pro-life endeavors when they see the balance of protection for the unborn and compassion for women and those suffering from past abortions.
- Abortion education and communication grows in families and in the parish.
