Year End Letter

A year end letter from Debbie.

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior”

December 2009
My Dear Family in Christ,
In November we celebrated our Tenth Anniversary of
Healing Hidden Hurts ministry and I am very excited about our future! This year was our busiest ever. My husband of 38 years is attending RCIA classes and will be baptized into the faith on Holy Saturday, which is also his birthday! Truly one of the greatest joys for our family, yet our personal lives have been in constant turmoil these last six months. We have experienced many trials beyond our control, and I know many of you are experiencing hard times as well.
As we prepare for Christmas, it’s a good time to look at the life of the Holy Family. Although it was the greatest blessing and honor to birth and raise the child Jesus, their lives were a constant trial along with tremendous suffering and sorrow. Whose family difficulties can compare with sufferings of the Holy Family? Yet their example can help us keep our trials in perspective as we try to imitate their trust and faith in God’s love.
Many of you partner with us in prayer for the women who come through the Ten-Step Program, and some of you have even fasted for them. Since prayer is really the heart of
Healing Hidden Hurts ministry, I’ve put together a few thoughts for reflection.
Pray for all who have participated in abortion, for repentance and conversion of heart. This includes the mothers and fathers and all those whose actions or inaction resulted in abortion. It includes all those who actively work to keep abortion legal and those who work in the abortion industry. “This kind can only come out through prayer and fasting”
Pray for all those despairing, that they receive the light of Christ, and seek His healing touch. For a catholic, confession is often the beginning of the healing process, and some may despair when the pain continues afterwards because she feels that God has not forgiven her. Despair can be very serious because it can lead to eternal separation from God; therefore, the woman in despair is most at risk. She is in tremendous pain, filled with self loathing and is on a path of self destruction. She is stuck in the past and cannot move forward in her conversion. She is in great need of our prayer!

Pray for those God has brought to the Ten-Step Program. Despair is what most women feel when they seek Healing Hidden Hurts ministry; they are suffering and have lost all hope. She has heard my testimony or has been referred by someone the Lord put in her life. In the Gospel story where the paralytic is lowered through the roof in front of Jesus, He tells us it is the faith of the friends that healed the crippled man. May we be like those friends and intercede on behalf of our loved one who is deeply wounded by abortion. The women who receive the greatest healing from the Ten-Step Program are the ones who have family and friends actively praying and supporting them as they go through the program. This is incredibly healing for the whole family.
Pray for those God is calling to witness. One of the reasons why abortion has continued all these years is because of the secrecy of those who have them. The majority of people don’t know of the truth of what abortion does to the child or the mothers and fathers. But God is calling many to witness among family and friends and sometimes larger crowds in order to speak the truth in love, while offering hope and healing to those suffering. I would love to share my witness in your parish!
Please consider praying for the work of Healing Hidden Hurts ministry everyday. You can plant seeds of compassion and hope by sharing my story with others. And please consider supporting this ministry with a monthly gift. During these tough economic times we need regular support in order to continue. No amount is too small and together we can help families heal…one woman at a time!
May God bless you,
Debbie Miller
